icebreakers are really useful for helping people get to know each other. cushion throwing in class can work well but you need to do other things online...e.g. truth and lies exercise. state three things aobut yourself and everyone has to guess which is true or false.

I like icebreakers but you do need to be sensitive to your class makeup regarding topics.
